What it does

Scan page after page into one document. Reorder, rotate or delete pages whenever you like.
Import from photos
Pick an existing photo and Tara Scan detects the document in it, just like a fresh scan.
Filters that clean up
Original, Vivid, Gray and Black & White. The black-and-white filter uses an adaptive threshold, so shadows across the page disappear instead of turning into grey smudges.
Text recognition, offline
OCR runs on the device (Apple Vision / ML Kit). Copy or share the recognised text — no internet connection needed.
Searchable PDF
Export PDFs with an invisible text layer on top of the image, so you can search, select and copy text in any PDF viewer. Image-only PDF and plain .txt are available too.
Library with folders
Organise scans into folders; rename, move and delete. Search finds documents by title and by the text inside them.

What leaves your phoneNothing, unless you share it
Scans, recognised text and PDFs are stored on your device. Tara Scan has no servers and uploads nothing; a document leaves the phone only when you share or export it.

Camera and photos
The camera is used only for scanning. Photos are read only through the system picker, and only the images you choose.
On-device recognition
On Android, the scanner and the OCR model are provided by Google Play services (Google's on-device ML Kit); processing happens on the phone.

Good to knowDoes Tara Scan upload my documents?
No. Scanning, text recognition and PDF creation all happen on your phone. There are no accounts and no servers; a document only leaves the device when you share or export it yourself.
What is a searchable PDF?
A PDF that looks exactly like the scanned page but also contains an invisible text layer from OCR, so you can search, select and copy the text in any PDF viewer.
Does text recognition work offline?
Yes. Text recognition uses Apple Vision on iPhone and Google ML Kit on Android, both running on the device, so no connection is needed.
